i have already started a similar project, have completed a path at bedrock over 1/8th of the map as of now.

isnt bedrock a bit low to be very easy to get to?
I think it's broken.

The tunnels MUST look fancy!

Building at bedrock is a death sentence you can run into lava very easily.

I think the biggest issue building at bedrock level is having limited room for potential redstone devices.

well i don't really plan on using redstone devices, i just work straight through the lava, lissy you've already seen the tunnel,i don't know if you would qualify it as fancy enough, and sure i will work with you tentatively for now.

there should be a coupple main Highways, and anyone can link up to these roads with their own tunnels and railways.

Redstone devices are essential for things like this, how are you going to 'turn' off the main railway?

Of course, madmoiselle. But stone looks quite fancy.
And I find laziness to be a really pretty look sometimes.

I'd prefer Redstone lamps, they allow better control and IMO look better than sea lanterns

You only want redstone lamps so you can put redstone everywhere. but in terms of train tunnels, sea lanterns match better. and tunnel lights aren't meant to be turned off.

I'd have to go with sea laterns. I can get those a lot easier than I can get redstone lamps. They both have the same lighting level, so I feel sea lanterns might be the better choice. How many blocks does a sea lantern light up? I know for torches it's 7, but I don't know what it is for sea lanterns.

Lets make this very simple, what if we ALL connected all of our railroads TOGETHER, I am currently making one an Y=20 so if everyone doesn't mind can I build on to theirs, and they can build theirs onto mine (if mine, just ask and I probably say yes and offer to help).

Its a very simplistic solution ;)
Why can't some people realize they have such potential and are one of the nicest people alive?

Y:40 makes oceans an issue, y:25 - 30 are a safer bet
