Does anybody know how to fix this problem

Hey its supergabe27. My minecraft was working fine a couple days ago and then it said cannot connect to minecraft.net for 2 days. So i deleted minecraft and re downloaded it and when I try to log in it says: Cannot connect to minecraft.net and in brackets it says (not downloaded). I have a macbook pro. Does anyone know how to fix this. I cant play minecraft anymore cause of this

i would imagine if you force an update that may do the trick or if you backed up your previous minecraft file then you could reinstall it to your new minecraft file but idk much about macbooks so if anyone else could comment on this to help go right ahead
