At 2 oclock today (Eastern Time) the server started crashing, but now its been a few minutes and the server is still down. I have no idea whats causing it... Nothing obvious in game seemed to messing with it.

I was watching behind Sparky's computer at that time. At about the 3rd or 4th crash, nobody had their tag or colors.

Still down, been 5+ minutes.. my guess would be something going wrong with the server host or maybe a plugin?

Indeed the server has crashed about 4 times today and will bring itself up automatically only to keep happening. I've kept it down manually to avoid further issues and will investigate.
Sorry for the downtime!
Edit: There was an issue with the RAM allocation, so I take it the server was working too hard to keep up. Should be all good now.

wow they did? That whole day I was also having strange lag constantly no matter what I did.

Not sure if these are effects of the recent server crash but I've noticed that after a while of being online the server kicks me out unexpectedly. Not only me, but a friend told that he was playing for about 1 1/2 hr and that he was also kicked out by server. When he tried to go online again he struggled to connect to the server and the things he had built during that time period weren't there. Might want to look into this.

Is there any specific message you receive when being kicked? Also, do you happen to have a certain date or time I could check the logs for?

When I get kicked out I don't receive any messages and regarding the time I don't have an specific one because it happens random at different times. This is sort of similar to the time outs dldavis was talking about.

Understood. Like I told dldavis in the other thread, hopefully the issue will be resolved upon upgrading, but do let me know if it continues in the next few days.

I was wondering if there was a way to set the server to an "offline" mode so that we could still play and not be affected by the huge mojang maintenance thing? if not thats okay :)

actually on another server thats what they did and its working fine, not saying that every server could do that. but mayber its an option?

Setting the server to offline mode has a number of disadvantages and security risks, therefore we won't be doing that I'm afraid.
