[impishmonkey] Ban Appeal - FLAMABLEninjaaa
« on: February 10, 2013, 09:27:25 am »
Hi, I was banned earlier today for the reason "r-e-s-p-e-c-t find out what it means to me"
I did not break any of the rules, and this ban was handled terribly.

First of all, lets take a look at the ban reason. Not sure if this is always how you word your bans, but I translate it to being "No respect".

So let's take a look at what happened prior to the ban.
1. I found a house which was obviously griefed, it even had a sign labeled "you were griefed"
2. I did the right thing and used /helpop to report the grief.
3. Whether or not a staff member was taking a look at the grief while vanished or not, I wasn't informed about anything.
4. So I used /helpop again to report it.
5. I then get a response from Lissy421 saying "if its not your grief dw about it" - If you can show me a rule somewhere saying not to report other grief, let me know. The announcement message in-game even says "Report any griefers to a Moderator!"
6. Just after that leatherneckjr tp'd to me and was looking around. But soon after he left.
7. I then asked twice why no one could fix it, and after getting no response, I used /helpop again.
8. After using helpop again, impishmonkey tp'd to me and also looked around.
9. After getting annoyed about this simple grief not getting fixed, this is how the conversation went:

FLAMABLEninjaaa: wow, you fixed it so well
FLAMABLEninjaaa: looks brand new
impishmonkey: flamable
impishmonkey: be respectful
impishmonkey: and shut your trap
FLAMABLEninjaaa: ok, so you can say that huh?

10. I was then muted. What kind of action was that? I never knew that the rules don't apply to staff members as well. You have no right to tell me to "shut my trap". I hadn't sworn or said anything disrespectful, and I get told to shut up.
11. With no other option, I sent a helpop ticket asking "can you just fix it? lol. What's the big deal?" and I get a response "flamable, kezz is watching after that" followed by "stop spamming"
12. Again with no other way of communication, I use helpop to say "This isn't spam madam" which it wasn't. It's using the servers feature to get help.
13. I was then kicked for no reason provided.
14. I then asked them to unmute me because I had done nothing wrong. I was then unmuted.
15. I was kicked again for saying "was that so hard?" for no reason provided.
16. I joined the server again and said "You might wanna stop kicking me. I'm not doing anything wrong" "What have I done besides report grief?"
17. I was then banned for "r-e-s-p-e-c-t find out what it means to me"

This ban was not warranted at all, and was handled badly by an Operator.
Even if it's a short ban, your staff really needs to rethink what they're doing here. There was a lack of communication from the staff, and I was just trying to report grief.

I was talking about the statement:
"Wow you fixed it so well, looks brand new."
as well as many other sarcastic statements directed at the previously mentioned staff members when they had answered you.

It was my understanding that the griefed building in question was being protected by a certain staff member and decided I'd give him a chance to sort it himself before doing it; hence, you being told not to worry about it. I even told you directly that it was someone else's to deal with.

Now, before I even got there you had /helpop'd multiple times asking the same thing, which is why I tp'd to you, thinking no one was seeing it but me, only to find out you had been answered already. What I meant to do was help you and right off the bat you showed great disrespect. I am however sorry for telling you to shut your trap, that was not okay on my part.

All in all, because it wasn't your building no one felt obligated to tell you why it was not yet sorted, though I later told you someone else was watching after it. I appreciate you trying to be helpful and report grief but berating staff when they don't sort things right away is not going to do anything but get you in trouble as well as the griefer.

I'm sure you've had worse things said to you, no?
What else had I said? The only somewhat sarcastic statement I can remember saying was what you just quoted.

hence, you being told not to worry about it. I even told you directly that it was someone else's to deal with.
Now, before I even got there you had /helpop'd multiple times asking the same thing, which is why I tp'd to you, thinking no one was seeing it but me, only to find out you had been answered already.
Like I said, no one had answered me. Leatherneckjr had even teleported to me, only to leave without giving me a response. And while I was muted, I used helpop to ask why it was such a big deal, and still no response.

What I meant to do was help you and right off the bat you showed great disrespect.
I still believe you treated this situation terribly, and a ban was definitely not warranted. Neither was the mute and the 2 kicks.

I wasn't exactly waiting for someone to tell me it had been sorted, I was waiting for not 1, but 2 staff members, both leatherneckjr and yourself to fix the grief before I parted.
Plus I wasn't criticizing anyone. You even said what you had said to me was wrong, yet all you do is say you're sorry and you get away with it? Yet I get banned for saying something similar?

Sorry for the late response, I literally ran out the door right as you replied. :P

I have had much worse said to me, yes. I can't even mention half of things said to me for the sake of the little ones that play here. That doesn't make it right though, does it?

As for "no one answering you" you just said Lissy421 told you "it's not your grief dw about it". Lissy is an operator, which means the owner and admin trusted her enough to make her a higher rank than merely a moderator. Taking that into consideration, she IS indeed trustworthy and does her job to the best of her abilities. She told you not to worry but you either completely disregarded her word or you felt dissatisfied with the answer. Either way you had been answered you just didn't like the answer.

None of the staff were planning on leaving it griefed, just so you're aware. If the person who declared being in charge of it hadn't sorted it by today I would have done it myself. I wanted to give them a chance though, since they are so protective over it.

As for your last statement, there is a great difference between someone who says sorry after doing something, and someone who argues how justified they were or doesn't think they were wrong.

Considering your ban ends in a few hours, you will not be pardoned.
