Well guys, I'm pleased to announce that after the long anticipated wait, our savior md_5 over at Spigot (http://www.spigotmc.org/) has released the first public Bukkit/Spigot 1.8 build!
What does this mean for us? What happens now?
About 4 months ago I opened a poll (http://dkcraft.net/index.php?topic=1383.0) in which you could all vote on for a full server wipe, to give the server a brand new start. The majority of you voted yes, so the idea was that once 1.8 arrived, I would give the server a clean slate for you to all play 1.8 on.
Unfortunately due to many complications within the Bukkit community, a 1.8 server build was to be delayed indefinitely.
However, now with the official release of a build for 1.8, I can finally get to work on this server wipe I planned so long ago.
The Server Wipe
Here's how things will work over the next week:
Let's refer to our original/main/stable server (mc.dkcraft.net) as server A.
And refer to our test/beta 1.8 server (beta.dkcraft.net) as server B.
This will all happen over the next week or so. I cannot give a constant estimate on my bandwidth speeds, so therefor I cannot give an eta on this being completed. Please bear with me as I work on this as fast as I humanly can.
1. Take down server A to download all the files onto my local drive. At this point, server B will still be online, so if you wish to have something to do in this time, you can still connect and play there.
2. Upload the world files of server A somewhere for you all to download, as this was a promise I made for when the server is wiped.
3. Make the necessary changes to server A to get it ready for 1.8. eg, update it to Spigot's 1.8 build, clear the worlds and set up the new ones, clear plugin data, etc.
4. Close down server B and upload that world for you to all download also. It was a good test run, but now that proper Bukkit-plugin friendly software like Spigot exists, I will be taking it down.
Once these things are complete, server A will be ready for you all to play on, 100% 1.8.
Here's a little summary of the things that will be staying after the server gets wiped, in case you missed the server wipe thread:
1. All worlds will be available for download after the wipe.
2. The following things will be passed on after the wipe:
- Bans
- Ranks
- Non physical donation rewards. Mob Disguise, Hats, Teleport, Multiple Homes, Particles, Donator Membership.

Yeah, thanks you guys. I know this takes a lot of work and such. I know I haven't been on in a while, but I still adore this server. I, and everyone else, really appreciate what you guys do for this server.
