So I thought I'd give a quick update on the 1.7 update, as I'm sure you're all anxious to start playing with the new features and such.
If you don't follow Bukkit and it's process, I'll give a short rundown on how it works:
- Mojang release a new Minecraft update. This is essentially what you see on single player.
- Bukkit takes the code from the update and 'translates' it for CraftBukkit, which is the software used for servers, and contains all the vital code for a server to function (players joining, plugins running, etc)
So before we can update, it's all up to Bukkit to release a stable version of CraftBukkit for 1.7. Considering it's been almost a month since the release of 1.7, I'm certain Bukkit are close to releasing the first build for 1.7.
What are the plans for DKCraft? (New blocks, biomes, features, etc)
This had been talked about among staff even before the release of 1.7. After much though, we will not be resetting/wiping the current world, instead we will simply be adding a brand new 1.7 world.
It's hard to please everyone, so I think this decision was the best choice for everyone. You will have access to new biomes, as well as being able to go from 1 world to the other.
The server will be updated as soon as an available CraftBukkit build is available.
Cheers.

Will it be on the same ip with everyone able to talk to people on each world?

Yes

Awww yeah, can't wait 'til I can start playing with the new flowers and catch some fishies :3
-
also will you be able to bring items back and forth between worlds?

Yes.

I honestly love this idea. I do have one question though, are you able to bring mobs back and forth between the worlds?
-
are you able to bring mobs back and forth between the worlds?
Unfortunately not. Every mob is restricted to the world they're spawned in.

Alrighty, I just have to get some mobs pretty fast then. I'm horrible at finding them.

Cool :) but I'm staying in my current world...

Will the live map have any major changes due to a 2nd world?

Indeed, the new world will also be displayed on the live map.

Hi,
The server has been updated to 1.7, HOWEVER, this is a limited update until bukkit is fully updated itself. This means that this update only allows 1.7 clients to connect. It does not implement any of the new 1.7 features. These will be released once a stable build of bukkit is ready.
In short: Update to 1.7, but no 1.7 features available yet.
From a different server. Isn't that the case?

If any server has updated to 1.7, it's because they're running Spigot. Spigot is simply an alternative to CraftBukkit, and in this case, they've decided to update to 1.7 with no 1.7 features. (Amazing huh?)

Looks like there's a dev build of bukkit for 1.7.2 out.

Noted, thanks for letting me know. Considering the extent of this update, I may wait for a few more build releases before updating.
This is just to be on the safe side from any major bugs that get picked up on early releases.

Would we be able to bring items back and forth?

Would we be able to bring items back and forth?
DK already said earlier on this thread. Yeah, you'll be able to, but not mobs.
-
So, if you are implementing a new 1.7 world to DKcraft, then our hard work of building and gathering materials will be gone? I mean like transferring materials to the other world?

You can travel back and forth between worlds, and as I understand it, our builds and materials will remain in the current world, but we can transfer items back and forth between worlds. Yes, you would have to build a new house if you switched to the 1.7 world, but you wouldn't have to collect a bunch of materials, as you most likely already have them.

It's like there's a portal connecting the 2 worlds... But mobs can't travel back and forth.
